Tips for Wedding Floristry
or How to Preserve the Freshness of a Bouquet
The main rules that will help preserve the wedding bouquet for as long as possible.

♥ Collect the bouquet on the day of the wedding, not the day before. Florists know how to preserve it, while at home, the bouquet may lose its external shine.

♥ Once you bring the flowers home, avoid any chemical experiments with alcohol, sugar, or aspirin. It's better to place the bouquet in cold water, in a dark and cool place. You can use a special feed for cut flowers, which extends their life and is sold in flower shops.

♥ For careful delivery, use a transport box with a special vase. This will ensure the safety of the composition during transportation. Maintain a comfortable temperature in the car, not exceeding 20-22 degrees Celsius / 68-71 degrees Fahrenheit.

♥ When moving from one location to another, place the wedding bouquet in water.

♥ Avoid sharp temperature changes. It is especially difficult to preserve flowers in hot weather. Do not leave them in a stuffy car or under the scorching sun for a long time.

♥ Ideally, order two identical bouquets. In this case, a "tired" bouquet can be replaced by its counterpart.

♥ Always listen to the advice of wedding florists when assembling the bouquet. Despite their beauty, some flowers are not suitable for long-term storage and active use. For example, hydrangeas look luxurious but, unfortunately, do not last long.

♥ There are different ways to arrange wedding compositions. The bride's bouquet can be placed in a special holder with a solution that nourishes the plants throughout the day or assembled directly on floral foam, which is easy to keep moist.

Storage Tips for Various Flowers.

Flowers have different types of stems:

♥ Firm stem (lilac, rose, chrysanthemum)

♥ Soft stem (wildflowers, hyacinth, tulip)

♥ Hollow stem (lupine, gerbera, dahlia)

Different techniques are used to extend stem freshness. Firm stems are cut into 3-4 cm sections and a wooden toothpick is inserted to increase absorption. Soft stems are given a sharp angle cut and additional thin cuts. Hollow stems are filled with water and taped shut.

Storage needs vary by flower type. For wedding bouquets, tulips prefer cold water, irises and gladioli need moisture, and anemones should have room temperature water.

Choosing a large floral arrangement carries the risk of wilt by midday. For less effort, consider a classic single bouquet of roses, lilies, or anemones. In colder weather, choose frost-resistant flowers like brunia, roses, hypericum, succulents, or baby's breath.

These floral tips will keep your wedding bouquet fresh, adding beauty, romance, and elegance to your special day.
